Your plying was done on a very familiar machine, my mum had one of them when I was little! I had no idea what it did, but it kepte quiet while she worked the knitting machine! Thanks for sharing; a nice reflective moment!
I plied on the spinning wheel, then wound it on to the ball winder so that I could ply some more and match the ends when I skeined it. It's like a whole other language, isn't it?!
The kids *love* to wind wool into balls on the ball winder for me. It's one of their very favourite jobs! I just have to be patient sorting out the odd tangle...
